Please try to attend some of the CRC's 2010 events, as we will
be holding three Club Trials, and two UKC/HRC Hunt Tests.
We will
supply more details on each event as the dates draw near.
If you know of
anyone that would enjoy being a member of the CRC, please encourage them to
join. New members are always welcome. As always, we appreciate the continued
support from our current members!
CRC Board Policy on Aggressive
Dogs The CRC Board discussed and voted on an important topic
after the club trial on June 3, 2006: aggressive dogs whose behavior endangers
other dogs and people at CRC club events. Unfortunately, there were
instances at the June 3rd club trial of dogs demonstrating aggressive behavior
on the grounds and also while in their handlers' vehicles. For numerous
reasons, including the safety of dogs and people at CRC events, CRC cannot
accept aggressive behavior. Consequently, the Board has passed the following
policy, which is in keeping with the guidelines provided by UKC/HRC:
- All dogs on the grounds of a CRC event are to be under
control and well behaved. It is the responsibility of the dog's handler/owner
to ensure that their dog is under control and well behaved. Such control and
behavior includes while a dog is crated/restrained in a vehicle/crate/kennel,
being aired, going to and from a test, participating in a test, and at any
other time and during any other activity while on the grounds of a CRC event.
- Aggressive behaviors that are unacceptable include but are
not limited to: snapping at or attacking other dogs or people, stalking other
dogs or people, barking threateningly and/or continuously at other dogs or
people, interfering with other dogs running tests (note: breaking on honor to
be considered separately). .
- If a dog is aggressive toward another dog or a person (e.g.
attacks another dog starting a dog fight or goes after a person), the dog will
be disqualified from the day's event and must remain crated for the remainder
of the event or removed from the grounds.
- If a second occurrence of aggressive behavior should be
observed, the dog will not be allowed at CRC events for a period of 1 year from
the date of the second offense.
- If a third offense should occur, the dog will be
permanently banned from all CRC activities.
- If any dog should bite a person at a CRC event, the dog
will be permanently banned from CRC events.
Please remember that you are responsible for your dog at all
times at a club event. If your dog should become aggressive, you should take
immediate steps to bring your dog under control to prevent injury to people and
other dogs. |
